Conclusion

Overall, I am surprised at how many inaccuracies are in these shows. It ranges from actual surgeries to relationships between medical professionals and those around them. The actors do their jobs well and make the viewers believe that they know exactly what they need to do to treat their patients. I was also surprised at all the random medical jargon that was thrown around. Most of the time it was correct. The medications or testing that they would list of quickly was all correct for most of the patients on all the shows. All medical shows have writers and people on set to make sure that the scripts and cases are believable and somewhat accurate to actual hospitals. However, these people don't go past surface level accuracy, and when people dig deeper there are a lot of inaccuracies. The rankings for the week stayed similar throughout my project. The Good Doctor is the most accurate out of the three shows. I say this because their main character Dr. Murphy is meant to be a genius, and in order to portray that the writers must be accurate on almost every part of the show (especially the medical terminology/treatments). The show introduces more complex cases than the other two because of the whole plot being centered around a genius doctor solving impossible cases. Chicago Med is more focused on intertwining its plot with its sister shows Chicago PD and Chicago Fire. It brings in interesting cases, but they are not incredibly intricate and more often than not involve characters from the sister shows. I do applaud the writers for the show for showing the importance of all the first responders and community of the three protectors of Chicago. Greys Anatomy is a well-known show with a fan base that has been watching the show for years. I'm sure the show has gotten more accurate as it has aged, but compared to the younger shows, Greys Anatomy lacks in accuracy. The show has gotten to the point where it has done almost every type of case possible because of its 300 episode run on TV. I was expecting for these shows to not be accurate at all, and they weren't accurate, but The Good Doctor and Chicago Med left me pleasantly surprised and wanting to watch more.
